    Camp HERo provides a unique opportunity to explore this exciting field. Under the guidance of Avondale Fire and Medical's female firefighters, participants will receive comprehensive training in firefighter skills and fire safety and earn a Stop the Bleed certification. Scheduled from November 15th to 17th, this camp offers an exciting experience for girls new to the fire service. An opportunity to ignite the future!

    All applicants must be girls between 14 and 18 years old and should be able to show a completed physical release form.

    Camp HERo Schedule:

    Friday, November 15th, 4 PM to 7 PM at Avondale Fire Station 172

    • Introductions and expectations with dinner for families included.

    Saturday, November 16th, 8 AM to 4 PM at Avondale Fire Station 174

    • Hands-on activities, interviews with the firefighters, and lunch are included.

    Sunday, November 17th, 8 AM to 4 PM at Phoenix Raceway

    • Hands-on activities, interviews with the firefighters, and lunch are included.

    Registration for the Citizen's Leadership Academy has closed.

    Avondale invites participants for 2024 Citizen's Leadership Academy

    Registration is now open for the 2024 Avondale Citizen's Leadership Academy, which kicks off on September 25. This 12-week course offers a comprehensive perspective of Avondale city government, with interactive and informative workshops on topics ranging from how the city runs to future development. Participants will have the opportunity to tour various city parks and facilities, get a close-up view of public safety vehicles and apparatus, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at all city departments.

    Classes will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 7:30 p.m., with some exciting Saturday field trips. Enrollment is free and is open to individuals 18 years and older who live in Avondale. Those who complete the course will be recognized at a special ceremony on December 2.
