The City of Avondale on December 20, 2023 broke ground on a new and state-of-the-art Sand Volleyball Complex at The BLVD, the first of its kind in the West Valley. Elected officials, City leadership and members from the Avondale Parks and Recreation Department took part in the ceremonial groundbreaking for the project.

“This project is a testament to our commitment to providing top-notch recreational facilities for the community,” said Avondale Mayor Kenn Weise. “I am excited to see this Council vision become a reality.”

“This groundbreaking ceremony marks the beginning of a transformative project that will enhance the recreational landscape of our city. We look forward to the completion of the Sand Volleyball Complex, which will serve as a hub for additional athletic and community engagement,” said Bryan Hughes, Avondale Parks and Recreation Director.

The project civil engineering and landscape architecture will be completed by Gavin & Barker Inc. and the facility construction contract was awarded to Chasse Building Team.
