Dysart Road Sewer Repair / Replacement Project
Consultation has concluded
Background: The sewer system in Dysart Road and 7th Street is aged, undersized, and past its expected useful service life. The City is utilizing various traditional and trenchless sewer installation techniques to replace and upsize the sewer system in this alignment. This project will provide reliable infrastructure and sewer service to the residents of Avondale for years to come.
Location: This project starts at the intersection of 7th Street and Corral Drive; then extends north along 7th Street to and across MC-85; then east along MC-85 to Dysart Road; then north along Dysart Road to Riley Drive.
Schedule: Preliminary work for the project has already started in the background but the traffic control setups are expected to be put into place Mid-February. Expect turning movement restrictions and street closures throughout the Spring and Summer. Traffic control setups are anticipated to be complete by August, although the project will not be complete and finalized until October.
Traffic Interruptions: The City expects to have traffic control setup throughout the duration of the project. However, specific closures will correspond with the Contractor’s progress. Three primary locations of traffic control setups are as follows:
- 7th Street (Center Lane Closure) from Corral Drive to MC-85: When traffic control is set up in this area, it is expected that all residences will still have access. However, driveways on the east and west side of 7th Street will be limited to right-in and right-out only.
- Dysart Road (Southbound Closure) from Western Avenue to MC-85: When traffic control is set up to install the new sewer under the railroad tracks, southbound lanes must be closed. During this closure, southbound traffic will be provided an alternate route on Western Avenue to Central Avenue and then south to the MC-85.
- Dysart Road (Center Lane & Inside Lane Closure) from Western Avenue to Riley Drive: When traffic control is set up in this area, businesses and destinations along this corridor will be limited to right-in and right-out turning only. It is anticipated that at least one lane northbound and southbound will remain open for thru traffic at all times on Dysart Road during this setup.
