As part of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), the City of Avondale will be installing a conduit and fiber on Avondale Boulevard from Civic Center Drive to El Mirage Road. The ITS conduit will connect the traffic signals along Avondale Boulevard, fire stations, City Hall Complex, and the future Alamar Public Safety facility. The project will commence south of the Avondale Civic Center Complex and extend to Broadway Road to El Mirage Road, occurring from July 29 to September 20 for the ITS conduit. Fiber installation will commence once the conduit is constructed. The entire project is expected to be complete by Dec 31, 2024.
This work will involve a moving process with lane closures and restrictions. Appropriate signage will be posted before the start of the work. To minimize impact on the traveling public, work will take place between 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday through Friday. Schedules are subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances such as mechanical breakdowns, weather conditions, and supplier material delays. Public safety will always be the City’s top priority.
