Project Budget - $13,994,000
Old Town Phase III Improvements Project will replace underground water lines, streetlights, and roadways in the Cashion neighborhood, from MC85 to Durango, and from 113th Ave to 111th Ave. The design for this exciting project is completed, and construction will commence with relocation of SW Gas facilities in July and continue through to to April 2025.
The work will be broken up into two phases:
1. Water line and streetlight replacement. The contractor will remove existing waterlines under the roads including connections to homes and meters, while simultaneously installing new piping. The work will be performed to minimize water interruptions in homes. Adjacent streetlights will be replaced at this time as well.
2. Paving. Once the invasive work of cutting the streets for piping is complete, a contract will remove the roadways down to the native soil, add new gravel base, and freshly pave surfaces. When done correctly, this will add 20 to 30 years to a streets lifespan with some regular maintenance.
The Old Town Improvement projects were presented in June 2019 to City Council (please see the documents widget to the right) and this is a continuation of that commitment to invest in the Old Town neighborhoods.
