Avondale to Hold Citizens Water Academy
The City of Avondale is inviting residents to participate in the Avondale Citizens Water Academy, a five-part series that offers a unique opportunity to gain insight into the city's water and wastewater infrastructure. The hands-on and interactive series will be held in April, on Tuesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Classes will be held at the Avondale Public Work’s Municipal Operations Service Center located at 399 E. Lower Buckeye Rd., Avondale, AZ 85323.
The Avondale Citizens Water Academy will provide participants with an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the city's water reclamation facility, wetlands, and recharge basins. Led by Avondale's water professionals, the series will cover a range of topics including understanding the water source, treatment process, delivery systems, reclamation efforts, and funding through water rates.
"We are excited to offer this unique opportunity for our residents to learn about our city's water and wastewater management," said Cole Pihl, Water Resources Manager. "Our goal is to inform our community on the importance of these services and how they are managed."
The first session of the Avondale Citizens Water Academy will kick off on April 2. Light dinner will be served at each session, providing a casual and informative atmosphere for learning about the intricacies of water and wastewater management.
Enrollment for the five-week academy is free but space is limited. For more information and to register for the Avondale Citizens Water Academy, please visit www.avondaleaz.gov/wateracademy
