Dysart Road Sewer Repair / Replacement Project

Dysart Road southbound to MC85 / Lower Buckeye and over the railroad tracks was opened on Friday, July 28 at approximately 11am. The contractor also removed all turning restrictions. However that does not mean the work is complete. There are still some adjustments and finishing touches the team is applying to the work so you may see some minor traffic control on site. The project is still on schedule to be complete by the end of August.

This project has three distinct phases.

• The first phase on 7^th Street south of MC85 and on MC85 from 7^th Street to Dysart repairing the sewer line was completed on time.
• The second phase involved a jack and bore operation to run a new sewer line under the railroad under the south bound lanes of Dysart Road. Due to the nature of the work, specifically additional regulations regarding construction adjacent and under a railroad, this portion of work had to be paused. Tremendous cooperation between the contractor, design team, Union Pacific Railroad, and the City have enabled the phase to restart the week of June 26. Please note the project schedule assumed possible delays and so the completion date has not been negatively impacted.
• The final phase of the project, the sewer replacement (pipe bursting) in Dysart Road from Western to Riley, is currently under construction and within schedule. The traffic control, which currently limits Dysart Road to right in / right out turns only, is expected to be removed in early August, as planned and communicated to businesses and residents in the area.

As part of the City of Avondale’s continued investment in Old Town Avondale, a major capital improvement project to replace the sewer system on Dysart Road is taking place. This replacement and upsizing project will provide reliable infrastructure and sewer service to the residents and businesses in the area. Utility services will not be interrupted during construction. The cost for this project is approximately $4.4 million.

Important traffic update for Dysart Road: Access to the businesses between Riley and MC85 will only be able to turn right in and right out during this phase of the project. Expect at least one lane northbound and southbound to remain open through traffic. Southbound traffic on Dysart will be routed west at Western Avenue - traffic cannot proceed over the railroad tracks to MC85. Eastbound traffic on Western Avenue will be routed north or south at 6th Street – there is no access to Dysart from Western. This setup is expected to last through August.
