Pavement Management Program
The of Avondale is actively enhancing its road network to ensure connectivity, safety, and economic growth. The network includes around 290 miles of roadway, with replacement costs for major roads ranging from $5-$6 million per mile. Due to these high costs, extending the lifespan of current roads is crucial.
To manage this, the city has implemented a Pavement Management Program (PMP), following guidelines from the American Public Works Association. This program focuses on efficient resource use, cost reduction, and extending pavement life by applying both traditional and innovative preservation methods. Regular assessments determine maintenance needs and prioritize repairs to maintain streets effectively while optimizing expenditures.
